Snow Genie

Well, someone got their wish and it snowed again here today. Thanks a lot, Mrs. Midwestern Bite! And it wasn't even supposed to snow--f-ing forecasters!!!

This morning it looked like this:

And by the time the afternoon rolled around thankfully it looked like this:

I really need more sunshine, people. So, if you happen to have snow-inducing powers (Joanna!), please hold off. At the very least please wish for rain instead of snow. I can't take another snow day.

In terms of eats, today was a pretty typical day. For lunch I had veggie sushi at Whole Foods before getting my hair cut. I also had a few pieces of this tasty muffin while I sat in my car pre-cut.

My haircut was nice. I have to say, however, that it is very, very difficult to find an affordable place to get your haircut in Boulder. I guess it's just too hip and trendy around here? I wonder how people in New York City get their hair cut, since I'm guessing it's even more expensive there? Can anyone confirm or refute that? Anyhow, my hair is in the usual style, only shorter. And, according to my stylist, Teresa, my hair is actually thicker than usual. So that's nice too.

After my haircut I came home, lazed around, did some cleaning, and ate dinner. For dinner, I had...veggie sushi.

Heh. I'm so crazy. I just can't get enough avocado/wasabi/soy sauce...so spicy, so creamy, so good. The funny thing is that I don't even like plain avocado that much. I mean, guacamole is one thing--who doesn't love guacamole--but I've never been one to take a bite of plain avocado without gagging a little.

*Tell me what the weather is like where you are? Is winter basically over, or are you expecting more grey skies and storms? Ever since David and I travelled to England two years ago I started reading a London newspaper online; today I read a story about how in England they're not expecting the totally crap (really, really cold and snowy) weather to end until the end of March...boo!

  1. Weather sort of sucks in Iowa too. I was able to bike to school last week but then it decided to get cold and snowy again. And it isn't like there is enough snow to XC ski on either, which would make the cold worth it.

    1. Boo--getting teased with spring and then hit with winter again is the worst!

  2. It's so beautiful there!

Like pretty much everything in nyc, it's possible to get a haircut super cheap and super expensive. Most people are so enticed by the shiny things in NY that they don't seem to see how it's one of the cheapest cities to live in if you're really committed to living cheaply. Anyway, I got my hair cut for free at Bumble & Bumble's "model project" (anyone can be a hair model for stylists around the country who come to their workshops). Later I started getting half price haircuts using Lifebooker. I found I spent more money on this kind of thing when I lived in Florida and there were fewer options.

    1. Hmmm...that's really interesting, and makes a lot more sense than my theory about Boulder being so hip:-)

  3. Awesome. I should put my powers to better use though and wish for a new car or world peace or something. Our weather last weekend was fabulous, dare I say spring like, but it's chilly once again. I think we are at the tail end though and I'd be surprised if we get anymore snow. You can mail me some of your snow if you want.

  4. I lied. I woke up to snow this morning. Granted only an inch and it'll probably melt quickly, but still...snow. So you don't have to mail me yours.

    1. Muwhahahaha!! Of course you're probably not dying for spring as much as I am, so I'm guessing the snow didn't get to you too much. Although, I have started thinking about what being snowed in might be like with a baby or toddler...and it's keeping me up nights:-)

  5. I'm so sad I missed all the snow while I was in Arizona in shorts and 80 degree weather. Not. But Boulder sure is pretty all dressed up in white. I'm not really a fan of plain avocado either (but guacamole is totally different!).

    1. Yah, you really missed out...heh. I hope for both of our sakes you missed out on the last real storm we'll get!
